Appointment

IIT Guwahati is pleased to welcome Dr. Manjunath S. Vhatkar, who has joined the School of Business as Assistant Professor in August 2026.

Dr Vhatkar specialises in retail supply chain management, omnichannel retail strategy, supply chain performance, structural equation modelling (SEM), optimisation, simulation and modelling, machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, and multi-criteria decision making (MCDM).

Dr Vhatkar comes to IIT Guwahati after serving as Assistant Professor at the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management, GITAM School of Business, Hyderabad. His earlier appointments include

• Guest faculty positions at the Department of Technology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and at Government College of Engineering, Karad, Satara

• Product Manager at Youngistaan India Internet Pvt. Ltd. (Nemo.inc.com), Pune

  
  

Dr Vhatkar completed his PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai in 2026, under the supervision of Prof. Milind Akarte and Prof. Ravindra Gokhale. His thesis work was on Leveraging Sustainable Performance in Omnichannel Retail Supply Chain Through Digital Transformation. He also holds an MTech in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from IIT Bombay, and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
