The Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Saurabh Kumar, who has joined the Jyoti Bhupat Mehta School of Health Science & Technology as Assistant Professor in September 2026.
Dr Kumar specialises in
Biosensors
Flexible and wearable sensors
2D nanomaterial MXene synthesis and applications
Rapid prototyping of microfluidic devices,
Non-invasive diagnostics
He also has expertise in quality management systems and internal audit (IS/ISO/IEC 17025:2017), medical device testing and calibration, and regulatory affairs under MDR-2017.
Dr. Kumar comes to IIT Guwahati after serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Devices, NIPER Guwahati.
His work experience includes
DST-INSPIRE Faculty, Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
Postdoctoral Fellowship, Functional Nanomaterials and Device Lab, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia
Project Assistant, Department of Applied Physics, Delhi Technological University
Project Assistant, Biomedical Instrumentation Section, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, Delhi
Dr. Kumar completed his PhD in Biotechnology at Delhi Technological University, Delhi, in 2017, under the supervision of Prof. B. D. Malhotra. His thesis work was on Nanomaterials Modified Paper-Based Biosensors for Cancer Detection. He also holds an MSc in Bioelectronics and Instrumentation from Jamia Hamdard, Delhi, and a BSc (Honours) in Biotechnology from CCS University, Meerut.
