On 11th September 2026, 80 Class XI Science students from Einstein Academy, Baihata Chariali, Kamrup, visited IIT Guwahati as part of a campus outreach programme organised by the Institute's Outreach Education Section.
The centrepiece of the visit was a demonstration session on scientific gadgets and hands-on experiments, conducted by Dr. Faladrum Sharma, Project Officer of the "Pandit Hemchandra Mission for Popularization of Science and Assamese Culture."

The project is housed at the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, with Prof. Uday Shanker Dixit as Principal Investigator and Prof. Sukanya Sharma and Prof. Lalit Mohan Pandey serving as Co-Principal Investigators.
The session opened with an introduction to the life and contributions of Pandit Hemchandra Goswami, remembered as the publisher of Hemkosh, the first Assamese dictionary, and as a former President of the Assam Sahitya Sabha. From there, the programme moved into a series of simple, hands-on experiments and educational gadgets designed to make scientific principles accessible and engaging. Students participated enthusiastically throughout, showing keen curiosity about how the gadgets worked and their real-world applications. Er. Raktim Nath assisted in conducting the demonstrations.

The visit offered students an interactive platform to connect classroom science with practical application, while also introducing them to a key figure in Assamese literary and cultural history. The Outreach Education Section acknowledged the support of the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Charitable Foundation, Dr. Naba Goswami, and other Foundation members in making the session possible.
