The IEEE Guwahati Subsection celebrated its 5th Anniversary on 9 August 2026, marking five years of advancing technology, professional excellence, and community engagement in Northeast India, under the leadership of Prof. Chandan Kumar, Chair, IEEE Guwahati Subsection.

As part of the celebrations, the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Guwahati Chapter, in collaboration with the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Guwahati Chapter, organized a Cleanliness Drive on 9 August 2026, from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. at the Sports Ground of IIT Guwahati. The initiative reflected IEEE’s commitment to social responsibility and community service alongside technological advancement.

Over the past five years, the Subsection has established several IEEE Society Chapters and Student Branches and organised technical talks, Distinguished Lecturer programmes, workshops, webinars, conferences, industry interactions, and professional development activities. The IEEE Guwahati Subsection Conference (GCON) has also emerged as an important platform for researchers, professionals, and students.

The IEEE IES Guwahati Chapter, with active contributions from Dr. Ramesh Kumar Sonkar, has supported this journey through technical lectures, industry interactions, student activities, and networking programmes.

The celebration concluded with a breakfast gathering, providing an opportunity to recognize volunteers and discuss future plans for strengthening IEEE activities in the region.
