IIT Guwahati and Mukul Chowdhary Endowment Fund Sign MoU to Support Independent Researchers

The partnership formalises a philanthropic collaboration aimed at strengthening Assam's independent research ecosystem.

IIT Guwahati and the Mukul Chowdhary Endowment Fund for Independent Researchers of Assam (MCEF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 16th September 2026 at the Institute's Board Room, marking the formal start of a partnership to support independent research and philanthropic initiatives in the academic community.

The ceremony was attended by 11 members representing MCEF, alongside a delegation from IIT Guwahati that included Prof. Kaustubha Mohanty (Dean, Alumni and Corporate & International Relations), Mrs. Nandeeta Das Salhotra (Head of Section, ACIR), Dr. Rinku Mittal, Dr. Saket Verma, Dr. Lepakshi Barborah, and other staff representatives.

Following the signing, Dr. Geeta Chowdhary spoke about the philanthropic vision behind the initiative, sharing the motivation and objectives that led to the establishment of the endowment fund dedicated to supporting independent researchers across Assam.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both institutions affirming their shared commitment to advancing research and innovation through this new collaboration.
